Progress.........YEAH RIGHT!!!

Ninety-nine U.S. soldiers killed themselves last year, the highest rate of suicide in the Army in 26 years, a new report says. More than one out of four soldiers who committed suicide did so while serving in Iraq or Afghanistan, according to a report scheduled to be released Thursday. Iraq was the most common deployment location for U.S. soldiers who either attempted suicide or committed suicide.
The report, which The Associated Press obtained ahead of its public release, said the 99 confirmed suicides among active duty soldiers compared to 88 in 2005 and was the highest raw number since the 102 suicides reported in 1991, the year of the Persian Gulf War, when there were more soldiers on active duty.
Investigations are still pending on two other deaths and if they are confirmed as suicides, the number for last year would be 101 instead of 99.
In a half million-person Army, last year's suicide toll translates to a rate of 17.3 per 100,000, the highest in the past 26 years, officials report. The rate has fluctuated over those years, with the low being 9.1 per 100,000 in 2001.
Failed personal relationships, legal and financial problems and the stress of their jobs were factors motivating the soldiers to commit suicide, according to the report. It also found a significant relationship between suicide attempts and the number of days deployed in Iraq, Afghanistan or nearby countries where troops were participating in the war effort.

All this yet Shrub and Co. keep yelling "progress" BULLSHIT!!!!! What is amazing is that on Shrub #1 and #2 watch we have had more soldiers commit suicide than during any other Presidents watch! This is just more proof for anyone that still doubts, that this BASTARD is a total and complete FUCK UP! Not only is he a FUCK UP he IS FUCKING UP our Troops! So much for progress huh? That's not counting that we STILL have soldiers from Shrub #1 war that are still fighting "Gulf War Syndrome". How we managed to let not just one but TWO DICTATORS run our country is beyond me. You think we would have learned our lesson after the first FUCK UP but apparently some people didn't. Let's just hope that we NEVER make the same mistake again!!!!!

Outstanding as usual funky town fighter. "Let's just hope that we NEVER make the same mistake again"
Well It's sad to say, but I think we will. It seems as if Republican voters are not even looking at the fact that this President has put this country in a mess. They continue to support him and even the lousy candidates running on the Republican ticket, whom we all know will do more of the same as Bush.

I would like for you to come back to my site and see if the virus remover tools I submitted today after your comment, is something that you might be able to use.

But you see, if you're a warmongering neocon, dead soldiers don't count. As soon as a soldier gets killed or becomes disabled or mentally ill, he/she gets tossed aside like a used print cartridge.

As long as we have thousands of live soldiers still fighting in Iraq, and the "media" keeps suppressing their day to day suffering, the neocons can continue to yell "we're making progress!"

Who Hijacked Our Country

What ever happened to the "land of the brave"? This damned war was supported by people who were pissing in their pants in fear that a "terrorist" would harm them. They supported sending our soldiers off to be killed in order for themselves to feel "safe". It truly is a crying shame what we have allowed fear to do to our country and our soldiers.

It is indeed a shame what we've allowed happen like POP said...because of fear. I hope our Dubbie knows fear of his own some day. He should know what it's like to walk in other peoples' shoes.

I guess if oil, your friends and your bank account were all that mattered, you could call this clusterfuck "progress".

The brave American soldier's time with their family is being shortened, the time in the hell hole that is now Iraq is getting longer. The afraid don't care. They follow blindly and nod like those damn bobble headed dogs in the rear window of cars. They shiver and shake and climb out from under their beds long enough to flash a bible at you. Not that they have ever bothered to read it... but they were told to flash - so they flash, they demand, they condemn without ever once looking at what they are doing, at what they've done.

These brave men and women deserve better. They deserve the truth, they deserve not to be placed in harms way unless absolutely necessary. They deserve to come home. Iraq deserves it's country back.

Excellent post my little PIC! As always!
